Getting Started
Each person in your family tree is represented by a box. If you have already used the Family Tree Builder to create your tree, your current Family Tree will be displayed, with members of your family as you have entered them.

Click on the up arrow and select the menu item to add your Mother. Fill in your Mother's name and any other information you want to include.

Click on the up arrow and select the menu item to add your Father, and follow the same steps.

Click on the up , down and right arrows for options to add your spouse/partner, brothers, sisters and children. Continue building your tree by clicking on a family member's arrows to add more family members.

If a menu button is gray, the menu option is not available. For example, in the family below, you cannot add a sibling for Marge because at least one parent is required. Marge's parent(s) will provide the connection to the children (Marge's siblings).

Click directly on a person's name to add or edit his or her name (required). At your option, you may also add or edit gender, date of birth, bleeding disorder, special relationship (e.g., adopted, foster), and relationship to you.

Relationship to You
Use this field to enter this person's relationship to you (e.g. maternal grandmother, father-in-law, sister, wife). This optional information will be displayed on a box, and on the
Family Tree Report, which you can print and share with your family or healthcare provider.

Adding Family Members
Use the arrows to open the menu of options for adding family members.

Bleeding Disorders Colors
Your family members' names will appear in a particular color, based on their Bleeding Disorder.

For example, the color for VWD Type 1 is . Black is the color for None, Unknown, Not sure, Suspected and Other.

Delete
To delete a person from the Family Tree, click on the red X at the top right corner of that person's box. This X will only appear on a box if that person can be deleted. You cannot delete someone if that deletion would create an "orphan" with no connections to other family members.

In the example below, you canít delete your sister Molly because that would make Cooper an "orphan" with no connections to the other family members. And you canít delete Homer because he is the connection to Fred and Gladys. To delete Homer, you would have to first delete Fred and Gladys.

Print
Click the print button to print your Family Tree. Use your printer's preferences to print in landscape or portrait format.

Scroll Bar/Size
Use the scroll bar to adjust the size and placement of your Tree. You can also click anywhere on the screen to move the position of your Tree.

Click the plus and minus signs to enlarge or shrink your Family Tree. You can also move the center button to adjust the size of the Tree on your screen.

Click the left, right, up and down arrows on the scroll bar to move the placement of the Tree on your screen.

Focus
Your Family Tree includes multiple family units, and you can choose to focus on an individual family. To focus on a family, click a person's magnifying glass in the corner of their box. This will show family members that directly relate to that person. For example, if you focus on your brother-in-law, you will see his family members, including his siblings and parents. His siblings and parents will not be visible if you are in focus as the primary family unit.

Here are two examples. In the first family unit, the focus is on the person who is named "My Name." Notice the shading on My Name showing My Name's family unit is the primary focus. Notice that people without an up arrow already have parents. Marge does not have a parent entered yet.

In the second example, the focus is on Homer (shaded) and shows Homer's family unit with his parents.

Report
Click on the report icon to create a report of all your Family Tree members. You can print and share this report with your family and/or healthcare provider. The Generation column shows the level of your family tree members. You (the Member) and your siblings are level 0. Your parents are one generation earlier – so they and their siblings are level -1, your grandparents are level -2, and your great-grandparents are level -3. Your children are level 1, etc. The illustration below shows a sample report that you can create.

Toolbox
Click the magnifying glass on a box's top right to focus on this family unit.

Click the at the top right of a box to delete a family member. Note: You will not be able to delete someone who has children or an "in-law" if that would create an "orphan." People who cannot be deleted have a gray X.

Click the print button to print your Family Tree. Use your printer's preferences to print in landscape or portrait format.
