Q: If a child is able to use Stimate®, is it better to use it to prevent bleeding (i.e., before participation in contact sports) or to help stop bleeding (i.e., use after an injury that results in bleeding). What are the advantages/disadvantages to either approach?

Q: My daughter has Type 1 VWD and was diagnosed at age 3 because of non-stop nose bleeding and bruising. Her mother is a carrier. She is now age 5 and needs to get DDAVP 4 mc gram injection whenever she has nose bleeding that cannot be stopped which averages once a month.

Q: In children with VWD, what should you do for childhood injuries such as bumps on the head, shin bruises, et cetera?

Q: I was recently seen in the ER with a disease called Erythema Multiforme. After doing loads of research I have found that this disease promoted bleeding because of the bruising and sloughing of the skin in the mouth and the outer skin.

Q: I was diagnosed with VWD about 10 years ago. Somehow, in all our moves, I lost the paper work that the hematologist gave me regarding this diagnosis.

tip of the week

When shaving, I have found that using shampoo instead of shaving cream is better. I rarely have razer knicks when using the shampoo.
